Recurse Center

Localhost: Lightning Talks V

We're hosting an evening of lightning talks about music and design at the Recurse Center!

This event will feature talks and a musical performance from current Recursers and alums!

This Localhost will be held at the Recurse Center in Brooklyn. Space is very limited, so make sure to RSVP early if you'd like to attend!

Food and drinks will be available at 7:00 pm, and there will be talks from 7:30 - 8:20 pm. We will not have a dedicated Q&A session, but you'll be able to chat with the speakers after the talks.

Our speakers:

  • Max Pekarsky, Winter 2, 2019, on SongMap, a tool that helps you explore your music listening preferences by visualizing songs as a star map using the Spotify API and three.js.
  • Chrissy Brimmage, Spring 1, 2019, on Visualizing Identity, a text-to-image Machine Learning project attempting to bridge the perception gap between social identities through AI-made visuals.
  • Agustín Ramos Anzorena and Travis Horton, Spring 1, 2019, will present an overview of the history of creative coding and the various frameworks available for it, and will talk about their creative process. Then they'll embark on a journey of visual harmony, exploring sound and motion in an audiovisual performance!
