Recurse Center

Localhost: Lightning Talks XI

We're hosting an evening of lightning talks at the Recurse Center!

Four current Recursers will give talks about their recent work at RC.

Food and drinks will be available at 7:00 pm, and there will be talks from 7:30 - 8:15 pm. We will not have a dedicated Q&A session, but you'll be able to chat with the speakers after the talks.

Our speakers:

  • Thais Correia, Mini 1 2018; Fall 2, 2019, on how to pay attention with Three.js and client-side machine-learning.
  • Kofi Gumbs, Fall 2, 2019, on making Bitmoji dance with Elm and WebGL
  • Helen Ngo, Fall 2, 2019, on using natural language processing along with Plotly + Dash to explore the tweets behind a large-scale state-sponsored Twitter disinformation campaign, with data from the Twitter Elections Integrity Hub.
  • Joe Winter, Fall 1, 2019, on metaloaf, a data project that explores the ingredient space of recipes on the internet with an eye on building a better meatloaf.
