​Localhost is a series of technical talks in NYC given by members of the Recurse Center community. For every event, we set aside seats for the public.

​Hyperscale with Jessie Grosen

A kitchen scale that tracks you—for good? ​ ​Jessie augmented her countertop scale with an ESP32 and a display to keep track of numbers for her while she bakes. She'll tell you about what went into it, the iterative design process, and the pretty-new embedded UI language she used. But she'll also offer reflections on getting out of the mindset of building a commercial product and on how to enhance, rather than deskill, a fun activity.
